Black & Decker TR6341S 4-Slice Toaster, Silver

Decent toast but machine is so-so
This toaster is easy to use and makes a decent slice of toast, and I trust the Black & Decker brand for good customer service, but there are definite pros and cons to consider before buying it (about $34.99 on Amazon as of 6/25/13). They are:
- the removable crumb tray is tiny and shallow. Never mind cleaning it out once a week or whenever, you'll need to clean it daily, even if you don't wash it. And the unit gets hot, so you can't make your toast, slip out the tray, whisk off the crumbs and pop it back in. You have to wait for it to cool...by which time, you've eaten your toast and gone off to do something else.
- the retractable cord is a good touch, but it doesn't retract easily. You have to play with it. Once again, since the unit gets hot, you don't want to retract the cord into a hot machine so you have to wait until it cools down, by which time...yes, you've moved along. Black & Decker insists that you unplug the unit when not in use. In practice, that cord is never...

Attractive, but Not Long-Lasting: Updated 10/27/13
UPDATE 10/27/13:

After only a few months, our toaster no longer works. It sat on my kitchen counter and was only used for an occasional light toasting. Unfortunately, it stopped working without any warning. I placed bread into the toaster, and pushed the lever that refused to go all the way down and "lock" the toast in place. The problem is not with the outlet (I tried other appliances and moved to different outlets), but with the toaster itself.

Though I appreciated the features that I outlined below, I was struck by how lightweight this toaster felt. It doesn't scream "long lasting" at all. Though I was initially impressed by the performance and affordability of this stainless steel-looking toaster, my first concern about the durability proved to be right, after all.
